What is Interdisciplinary Program of the Humanities and Social Sciences?

This program is one of the internal research support programs at Kyushu University, designed to facilitate group research led by researchers in the humanities and social sciences. It aims to create new value and promote cross-disciplinary research based on “integrated knowledge,” including natural sciences, arts and engineering.

The program was launched in FY2022 and has sought to promote innovative academic research by supporting in-depth exploration of diverse themes under an interdisciplinary research group structure, leveraging insights from the humanities and social sciences. To date, multiple research groups have been supported through internal funding of 2 million yen per group (reduced to 1 million yen for projects selected from FY2026 onward). This page presents an overview of some of their research activities and outcomes.
