Operational Structure

Operation of the Collaboration Council based on a base contract
The Collaboration Council is involved in planning university-industry collaboration, managing and evaluating results from individual collaboration, handling intellectual property and allocating public funds.

The Secretariat of the Collaboration Council (usually the Research Alliance Group) is responsible for managerial work
The Secretariat is responsible for administration of contracts, management of project progress, maintenance and management of intellectual property, organization of the Collaboration Council and various clerical tasks.

Other Collaboration

Personnel exchange Exchanges between researchers from industries and faculty are promoted.

  • Offering promotional opportunities to industries researchers (for obtaining doctoral degrees while remaining employed, and receiving professor or associate professor degrees)
  • Improvement of R&D ability of industries with the help of university faculty

Joint projects Joint projects are conducted using the faculty members, university’s staff, facilities, equipment and functions.

Form of contract and costs

The common management method for individual collaboration is decided upon collectively in the base contract.

To ensure the progress of individual collaboration, the personnel cost for dedicated researchers (temporary personnel cost) and costs for management are necessary.

Hiring researchers at university such as post-doctorate holders: approx. 3-6 million yen per person annually (if temporary staff dispatched by company, 420,000 yen per person annually). Equipment and expendable supplies: actual costs Collaboration management: 30% of individual collaboration costs (including general management cost of 10%).
